What is a Housing Cooperative?
Penn Center House is a housing cooperative, which is different from a condo or an apartment. Housing cooperatives provide housing for their Members, who are stockholders in the corporation. The purchase of a share, in the form of a Membership Certificate, entitles the purchaser to hold a proprietary lease for a particular unit, commonly known as the Occupancy Agreement. The Occupancy Agreement gives the purchaser the right to occupy a dwelling and to participate as a Member in the operation of Penn Center House.
